“We had a mix of fashion shows and knowledge forums like Future Fashion Conclave. The designers find a unique selling platform via the Lighthouse Arena with Indian and international buyers and HNI audience,” says Pallav Ojha, Co-Founder & CCO, UVAR Global.

This year a number of new designers made their debut. A fashion week is never complete without the presence of celebrities and this year Divya Khosla Kumar, Amyra Dastur and Sooraj Pancholi walked the ramp for Sukriti & Aakriti, Sangeeta Sharma and Anuj Madaan. Shibani Dandekar showcased collections of Deme by Gabriella and Tanisha Mukherjee and Zarine walked the ramp for Mayyur Girotra and Sanjukta Dutta.

“Increasingly, destination weddings and theme parties are becoming part of our social culture and hence the beachwear or resort wear category also has seen a fillip in the recent times,” says Amyn Manji, Co-Founder & MD, UVAR Global.

My collection this season is inspired by the Chinese flowers, the alluring cherry blossom and osmanthus.

The Silhouettes in the collection are audacious and tender. They are cylindrical yet soft in its form, free flowing bias cuts and draped garments make the ensemble sensuous.

Transparency of fabrics like organza and crepe add to the romance of the garments being enhanced and embellished in vibrant tones of Tangerine and pink glow.

My collection salutes the magnetic seductive aura of the ‘ nautch girls’. So much elegance, dignity and free spiritedness in an era where these attributes were unattainable for most women.

  • Asmita Marwa

Sustainability is an ideology, a state of mind and a concept close to my heart as a designer and a creative person. It is the crux and essence of my label and brand. Sustainability is about slow-fashion, time-less fashion, it’s about evolving a concept, re-inventing and re-interpreting it over a few seasons. Sustainable fashion does not believe in churning out collection after collection making the consumers feel that they are outdated because they don’t have the latest pieces. It is about adding separates to continue the evolution of a concept or design language.

My SS 2016 collection is a way to travel through time and geography. The cuts I’ve used are both simple and classic, allowing for ease in styling and layering.

My colour palette borrows from the tropical forests of Gauguin and vintage wallpaper patterns. The fabrics range from ultramodern neoprene to handwoven silks, heavy crepe to light-as-air tulle.

The collection is fresh and breezy. Perfectly drawn fabrics punctuated the season’s summer romance in shades of pastels in conquering the romantic mood on the beach . The collection consisted of soft satins and pure fabrics fused with delicate prints. The models were dressed in kaftans, tunics, shirts, short dresses and  enhanced  beach wear with  a clean cuts  to allure the vacation feeling .
